Celebrating The Spirit Of Patriotism This Republic Day

Patriotic fervor is at a high amongst children in schools and colleges during Republic Day celebrations. 26th January, beyond doubt is one of the important days of our Indian history. It narrates the story of the time when our country gained freedom and established a truly sovereign rule by bringing our constitution into force way back in 1950 on this very day. As a result of which, India became totally a republican unit. After this significant step, dreams of our freedom fighters became attainable, who fought for the Independence of the country.  Ever since that, 26th January is decreed as national holiday and is celebrated with full passion and zeal across the country.

Students Revere Motherland

Republic Day celebrations in various schools across India had one thing in common - feeling of patriotic zest on this occasion. At Presidium Senior Secondary School also, the celebration was at a full swing. Spreading the message of love and peace, children came to the school adorning costumes of freedom fighters and carried national flags in their hands.

The day began with flag hoisting ceremony which was followed by the national anthem. Teachers explained to the students’ significance of the day and made them aware of various aspects of India and its cultural heritage. During the assembly, students participated in the march past with gusto and short speech was delivered to them elucidating importance of Republic Day parade held at India gate annually.

Children sung popular patriotic numbers like - "Nanha Munna Rahi Hoon", "Ae Watan, Ae Watan, Humko Teri Kasam” etc. They also shared their views about their country in a class discussion thereafter.

The school premises were beautifully decorated with balloons of tri-color, small flags and flowers spreading the aura of patriotism. The continuous patriotic music in the background added to the flavor.  Altogether, the whole school came alive with the spirit of nationalism.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate Republic Day as our future leaders were educated about our country’s rich heritage and history!

How Pets Assist In Child Development

Having a pet can be an inspiring experience for your child. From a pet, a child derives an unconditional love and support. He gets a companion, a friend, a sibling, a playmate; who relieves him from stress and provides loads of joy and happiness. Growing up with pets can be a wonderful experience for your kids. They learn how to take care of their pets and develop a sense of duty towards them; in a way it helps in their social enhancement.
The caring and the faithful relationship that child builds with his pet makes him compassionate towards others as well. The pet -child affection has numerous benefits. It enhances child's self-esteem and confidence, increases his sense of personal competence, lessens his loneliness and encourages socialization. All the positive experiences with the pet can help a child feel good about his own self. Loving a pet helps a kid to love and trust his friends and family.
Therapeutic effects of pet-child bond
It is now proven fact that pet relations have therapeutic effects on children. The therapy provides physiological and psychological benefits. It provides over-all development of the child i.e. physical, social and emotional development. They also bring out nurturing instinct in your child.
Social Development: Pets work as social catalyst for children. Generally, kids who have better bonding with their pets are friendlier with their peer groups. Therefore, pets convert socially less outgoing children into sociable beings.
Physical Development: All pets need to exercise and playing with the pet is a fun way to include an activity into your child's lifestyle. For instance, adding to your child's schedule -walking a dog every evening or playing throw ball in the yard makes him more active and helps him in getting rid of sedentary routine. Pets also assist in polishing motor skills in children.
Emotional Development: A pet plays a significant role in strengthening child's emotional development. A pet becomes first point of contact for the child, when he needs to share his grief, sorrow and happiness. Nurturing a pet makes child more responsible and promotes his confidence levels.

Points to remember while shopping with children

It’s that time of year when mega sale has kicked off on your favorite brand, but as a mother of two you are apprehensive to go on a shopping spree along with your kids. Any parent would know how difficult it is to shop with children. For mothers, it is truly one of the happiest errands to shop leisurely in the market without burden of handling kids. Thinking it to be a cumbersome job; parents avoid taking their kids along or they just put off their shopping trips. Parents struggle in establishing shopping rules for children, which are most of the time broken or not followed at all by kids. Here's how you can take your toddler to shopping and maybe even have some fun! Some basic shopping guidelines you must follow:
  • Take care of their needs:  When shopping with children, take care of their needs. They might be tired, hungry, overexcited by the noise and confusion, or simply need fresh air.
  • Special care for Infants:  Shopping with an infant is not easy. It is better to plan a trip only after they have slept and have been fed properly. It is likely that small children, especially infants might feel dehydrated in the dry air of shopping malls for long hours. Make sure you feed them with frequent juice and water breaks in between.
  • Make them feel comfortable: Small children are most comfortable when carried in a sling or carrier worn by parents usually. It provides children more emotional security than in a stroller or grocery cart. Carrying a small toy to keep toddler busy is also a good idea. Hug and speak to your child gently after short breaks that will further comfort your child.
  • Shopping trip can make children curious: When you go out to shop, children generally get very curious with things and people around. They will naturally get attracted towards appealing items and will want to examine them. Don’t scold them. Rather, explain it politely to them to not to mishandle or help them to hold the item safely, or let them know that it can be viewed but not touched.
  • Have a word: Have a small talk with the kid, before entering the store.  Tell them things that are important for example, "Stay close to me," "Use your quiet voice," and "No begging for candy." etc
  • Reward good behavior: Always make it a point to reward good behavior, when you go for shopping. Buy candy or his favorite snack, when you go for shopping. This will truly boost up the kid to behave same next time.
Hope these shopping tips will change shopping experience from potential misery to potential mastery of shopping with kids.
